The Rebirth

I’ve changed. Maybe you’ve felt it too — that shift in priorities, desires, and goals, even. Suddenly, the things that once consumed me, don’t matter as much anymore. Childhood dreams don't seem to carry much weight anymore. I’m scared I’m giving up. But in reality, I’m evolving. Writing, speaking, and taking care of my health feel like the most important things these days. I remind myself that its okay to change. There is nothing to rush.. I have time. You have time. We’re safe.

Well, what happens next? That’s up to us. It’s up to you to move forward with conviction, with intention, with a plan. Even if you don’t have it all figured out, that’s okay. I’m right there with you — I don’t have it all figured out yet. I can’t fully grasp the next steps, or what this new version of me is meant to look like. And that’s okay. It’s okay not to know.

Maybe, like me, you can’t quite see the path yet, but you can feel who you’re becoming.

What I do know is how this new version of me shows up in the world. I can see her clearly. She prioritizes her health in a powerful way. She writes, she reads, she creates. She nourishes herself in ways that allow her to thrive.

It’s okay to not know all the answers. But I invite you to look back, and take a moment to celebrate the version of yourself that got you here. This person is your foundation, and they’ve accomplished so much. You don’t have to carry their burdens anymore, but you can hold them with love. They’re a part of you, but you’ve grown. You’re not striving to be anyone else now. You’re no longer seeking external validation. You’ve already won.

What I am looking forward to is just being— showing up each day, living a life filled with joy, intention, and meaning. This is my rebirth.

I may not know exactly what this new chapter looks like, but I can feel it. And it feels strong. It feels confident. It feels kind. It feels trustworthy. It’s intuitive, all-knowing, blissful, divine.

It feels like God.

It feels like me.

So, let’s keep moving forward. Let’s keep showing up for ourselves, even when we don’t have all the answers. Let’s keep co-creating, letting go of what no longer serves us, and embracing who we’re becoming. Let’s commit to this rebirth.

Let’s keep loving — loving ourselves, loving our bodies, loving our process. Only then can we truly show up and love others.

This is our rebirth.

And it’s only just begun.

How I’m Fighting For My Health

Consider this your sign and reminder: you are not alone, and it’s crucial to stand up and fight for your health like your life depends on it, because it does. Navigating the American healthcare system can feel like an uphill battle — trust me, I’m learning firsthand the power of advocating for myself and being relentless in getting the tests, scans, and care we all deserve.

Recently, I’ve been facing a tough journey with my health, and it’s taken a serious toll on my mental and emotional well-being. Just ask my boyfriend — the past few months have been hard on both of us. I’ve been so irritable and I’m forever grateful for his patience and willingness to have those difficult conversations.

This experience has taught me how important it is to prioritize my physical health, because it affects every area of my life. From gut issues to gynecological challenges (turns out I have endometriosis), I’m realizing that at 31, I have to work even harder to feel and look my best. While I’ve always loved yoga, I’ve never really been a “gym girlie,” so this shift has been challenging. But I’ve had to make a mindset shift — moving away from wanting to be “thin and hot” to focusing on being strong and healthy.

If you know me, you know I’m all about ballin’ on a budget. But this summer, I made a conscious decision to invest in the support systems I truly need for this crucial health journey. I’ve swapped out a few drinks and dinners ($$$) and redirected that money toward life-changing (and life-saving) resources.

  • Holistic Health Coaching with Dana Ariele: It was amazing to work with Dana to dive deeper into my health beyond what doctors typically offer. We set goals and addressed my symptoms holistically. I couldn’t afford her full package, but she worked with me to find something within my budget and was super helpful with all my questions, even after our session. You can connect with her here: Dana’s Website | Dana’s Instagram

  • Life-Changing Gynecology with Dr. Kameelah Phillips: My intuition told me I needed a gynecologist who looked like me. My previous doctor, a man in a large hospital, left me feeling like just another number, unheard among hundreds of patients. After fighting so long to be listened to, finding a Black woman doctor was emotional. During my session with Dr. Phillips, I felt like a weight had been lifted — she truly heard me. She ran tests immediately, leading to my diagnosis of endometriosis. Now, we’re working on a treatment plan, and I’m so grateful. Dr. Phillips owns her practice, Calla Women’s Health, on the Upper East Side in NYC.

  • Elite Training & Nutrition with Vaughn Strong: Chris Vaughn’s Instagram says it all — he’s the real deal. Fitness isn’t just a job for him; it’s his life. Based in Miami, Chris also offers online training, mindset coaching, and nutrition guidance. I’m beyond excited for my custom online program, which will be my go-to foundation in the gym, especially since I have no idea where to start or how to use the machines.
